Foogi was tasked with creating a health and fitness app for Powerhouse Gym, one of the largest fitness chains. The goal was to build an app that would offer users personalized workout routines, health tracking, and access to various gym services, while maintaining a seamless, user-friendly interface that aligns with Powerhouse’s brand.
Foogi’s team worked closely with Powerhouse’s leadership and fitness experts to design and develop an app that would not only serve as a tool for gym members but also as a comprehensive fitness companion. We focused on creating a customized experience for users, allowing them to track their progress, access training plans, and engage with a supportive fitness community. The app was designed to function smoothly on both iOS and Android, ensuring accessibility for all users.
The app also integrated with wearable devices (such as smartwatches and fitness bands) to provide real-time data on heart rate, calories burned, and overall health metrics. Additionally, the app featured in-app purchases for gym memberships, virtual fitness classes, and personalized coaching, all designed to improve user engagement and satisfaction.


Initial Consultation & Requirements Gathering:
Foogi started by engaging with Powerhouse’s management and gym trainers to understand their vision for the app. We identified the key features, such as personalized workout plans, nutrition tracking, and real-time health data syncing.
Designing the User Experience (UX):
We prioritized a simple, intuitive UX design to ensure that users could easily navigate through the app. We worked on creating wireframes and prototypes that mapped out the user journey, focusing on making it easy for users to track workouts, access gym schedules, and view progress metrics.
App Development & Integration:
Foogi used cross-platform development tools to ensure the app was accessible on both iOS and Android devices. The app was integrated with wearable fitness devices to sync data in real-time, allowing users to track their health metrics during workouts. The backend was built to support dynamic content updates, including new fitness plans, gym schedules, and classes.
Gamification & Community Building:
To keep users motivated and engaged, Foogi added gamification features to the app. This included achievement badges, leaderboards, and community forums where users could share their fitness progress and challenges, helping foster a sense of community and motivation among members.
Testing & User Feedback:
Before launch, the app went through rigorous quality assurance (QA) testing, including functionality, performance, and user acceptance testing (UAT). Foogi also conducted focus group testing with actual gym members to get feedback and make necessary improvements to the user interface and features.
Launch & Continuous Improvement:
After the successful launch, Foogi continued to monitor user feedback and make updates. New features such as video-based workout tutorials and live-streamed fitness classes were integrated based on user requests, further enhancing the app’s value.
Enhanced Member Engagement:
The personalized workout plans, real-time health tracking, and community features significantly increased member engagement. Gym members were able to track their fitness journey and feel more connected to the gym, even outside of physical visits.
Improved Member Retention:
By offering in-app purchases for gym memberships, virtual classes, and personalized coaching, Powerhouse was able to provide greater value to their members, improving retention and creating new revenue streams for the business.
Higher Class Attendance & Membership Sign-ups:
The integration of real-time gym schedules, online bookings, and fitness class reminders led to higher class attendance and encouraged users to engage more with the gym. The app also allowed Powerhouse to market membership packages directly to users, increasing new sign-ups.
Seamless Integration with Wearables:
By allowing users to sync their wearable fitness devices, the app provided real-time insights into their workout performance, helping members track calories, heart rate, and progress in a more meaningful way. This created a deeper connection between the gym members and the Powerhouse ecosystem.
Brand Loyalty & Community Building:
Through gamification and community features, the app created a sense of belonging among Powerhouse’s members, fostering brand loyalty and motivating users to stay committed to their fitness goals. Members could participate in challenges, share success stories, and cheer each other on, building a strong Powerhouse community.
Monetization Opportunities:
The in-app purchases for virtual fitness classes, personalized coaching, and exclusive content generated additional revenue for Powerhouse. The app also allowed Powerhouse to offer premium services and products, further enhancing its monetization strategy.
